The Simulator is very much an attractor pattern.
It can be excellent when fished New Zealand style, or just as a searching pattern.
Originally designed as a Stone fly pattern, it is a very effective sedge imitation and I have had great success with this fly in the May fly, it is probably my favorite fly when larger mayflies are coming off the water.
It is very buoyant so can be used in fast water an is also visible making good in poor light or at distance.
